David Beckham for H&M

When David Beckham sat on the sofa opposite Jonathon Ross last Saturday, the British public were wondering if there was any chance that he might be dressed badly, say something inappropriate or just generally be a bit dull. However, as expected he came across – well just perfect. Just when we thought we couldn’t want him any more, the man they call ‘Golden Balls’ has followed in his successful wife’s fashion footsteps and launched his own bodywear line for fashion and lifestyle favourite H&M.

The bodywear range, which was officially available in 1,800 H&M stores nationwide on the 2nd February, consists of a new range of ‘classics’ for men including briefs, boxers, vests, T-shirts, pyjamas and long johns. According to H&M the designs focus on ‘fit, function and design’ and will avoid overt branding so as to become the classic, standard bodywear for men in the 21st century.

The range was designed by David and his in-house team and was based upon David’s own wardrobe incorporating his own style and aesthetic. Style icon and general ‘God’ to the majority of men in Britain, the concept of wearing ‘David Beckham’s pants’ is nothing short of fantastic fashion PR. Furthermore with every woman, not only in Britain, but in the world, secretly (or sometimes not so secretly) wishing their partners looked a little more like the ex-Manchester United pro, the range is sure to fly off the shelves. It’s just a shame that the mesmerizing topless Beckham statues, seen in the Regent Street store at last week’s launch, weren’t available for sale.

The collection has strategically become available just before Valentine’s day – just in time for women everywhere to start morphing their men into Beckham-a likes. It might not be quite as good as the real thing but at least it’s a little closer.

What do you think?

  1. I was in NYC recently and there was a poster of David on the side of one of their gigantic buildings…he looked AMAZING! It’s so nice to see a Brit doing so well over there x
