HIX at Selfridges review

Thanks to a very kind client, I had a voucher to spend in Selfridges. And, though tempted by a gorgeous Aspinal of London cosmetic case, I decided to take my boyfriend to HIX for a meal.

Having spent most of January cooped up in the flat in Clapham, I was very excited to finally be going out and made the most of the occasion by dressing up in my very favourite TopShop dress and heels (a decision I later regretted when we made our way home in the snow).

We decided on 2 glasses of champagne at the bar to start with, which were served in a champagne coupes – a touch I always love, even if it is no good for the bubbles.

The food, the wine and the service were all excellent. I opted for crispy squid followed by fish fingers, whilst he went for whipped beets with goats cheese, and steak. We also shared a scrumptious chocolate cake – which I would thoroughly recommend. My only complaint was that whilst the food was very tasty, I felt it was a touch over-priced.

A great place for a rest from shopping, and a nice one for people watching. Best for lunch with your Mum or girlfriends rather than a romantic one with the boyfriend.

Why not try something new?
