1) The talking stops
For weeks now, UFC fans all over the world have watched on as middleweights Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold have locked horns. There is certainly no love lost between these two. But come fight night, and the early hours of Saturday morning, the opportunity to chat will be over, and both will need to let their fighting to the talking.
2) British fight spirit
Not one, but two British fighters feature on the main card in Sydney. Both Michael “The Count” Bisping and Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson will be in action, and both will be looking to take the win and move one step closer to becoming Britain’s first ever UFC world champion.
3) A STACKED undercard
From the first prelim bout upwards, this is a genuinely stacked card. Marcus Brimage, Louis Smolka….these guys come to fight, which makes results unpredictable and viewing irresistible. I recommend getting comfortable on the sofa from midnight on Friday night.
4) The bonuses
There has been a lot of back and forth between Rockhold and Bisping about putting their fight night purses on the line out of sheer confidence in their own abilities. It remains to be seen who can put on a performance worthy of those Performance or Fight of the Night big bucks….and whether that money will stay in their own pockets!
5) The call-outs
One of my favourite moments of any fight night is waiting to see who is willing to call out the next opponent on their hit list. Will the winner of this main event state his case for a title shot? And will the victor of this explosive co-main look to call out a top 10 opponent in an effort to move further up the pecking order? I just don’t know…..(another reason why this sport is so great…it keeps on keeping you guessing)
