Client objective:

PHA Media were asked by Berkeley International to devise and implement a communications strategy around its expansion in 2013 to five new markets across Europe. Having already established itself as the leading agency of its kind in the UK, Berkeley International identified Paris, Milan, Amsterdam, Geneva and Copenhagen as the locations of their new European offices in 2013. We were briefed by Berkeley International to provide PR support around the launch of each new office, and to create major media campaigns in each territory to quickly establish a market presence.

Originality and creativity:

PHA Media placed the European CEO of Berkeley International, Inga Verbeeck, at the heart of the media campaign. Our aim was to establish a media presence for Inga in each of the new European markets where Berkeley was launching, positioning her as the leading match-maker in Europe for wealthy professional singles. Our tactic was to target the leading financial and broadsheet media outlets in the UK, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark, offering journalists an insight into the rarefied world of elite dating.

Strategy and implementation:

Partnering with a network of leading PR agencies across Europe, PHA Media launched a major Europe-wide communications campaign in early 2013 to herald the launch of the new offices. Our team arranged a series of interviews with Inga Verbeeck where she discussed the concept of the agency and the rationale for its European launch. The campaign was carefully co-ordinated to ensure Berkeley International received highly targeted media coverage in each European country around launch.

Results and evaluation:

The media launch across Europe resulted in a series of high-impact, high-quality media coverage that generated a wave of new member enquiries to Berkeley International and helped establish the agency in each new market. Coverage of the launch included major articles in the Financial Times, Le Monde, La Repubblica, Bloomberg, Paris Match, Le Temps, Borsen and Dagens Industri.
