Support during a court case
Milan Mandaric, successful entrepreneur and football club chairman, saw his personal reputation come under threat last year and was bombarded by unwanted media attention. He asked PHA Media to help turn the tide and control enquiries, as well as supporting him throughout the court case.
Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandarić came to PHA Media after being arrested for alleged tax evasion, involving then Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, in the highest profile court case of the year.
We provided media support and advice before the case went to trial, when Mr Mandarić protested his innocence after being left shell shocked that the Inland Revenue and Police wanted to pursue the tax evasion allegations.
We sat down with Mr Mandarić to hear his story and discussed the background of the case with his lawyers, whilst fielding the many media enquires that ensued given the huge public interest in the case.
PHA Media attended every day of the trial for the full two week duration, where consultation was provided by our chairman and senior associates.
When Mr Mandarić was cleared of all accounts, PHA Media quickly prepared a press statement which was hand delivered to the media pack in attendance outside the court room. The statement set out Mr Mandarić’s relief, innocence and shock that the case had been taken as far as trial.
Following the announcement of the Mr Mandarić acquittal, live television interviews were arranged with BBC News and Sky News outside Southwark Crown Court.
One on one interviews were then arranged with Sky Sports News The Guardian and The Sunday Times which enabled Mr Mandarić to completely clear his name allowing him to fully concentrate on Sheffield Wednesday Football Club and his international business commitments.
